Northants Squad partners with Corby Foodbank to support the community

13th May 2026

A Corby mum who built up a successful cleaning business after hitting rock bottom is using her personal experience to give back to the community by joining forces with Corby Foodbank to mark Mental Health Awareness Week (11-17th May).

Becca Rigney set up cleaning company Northants Squad in 2024 and, nineteen months on, the award-winning business is making a positive and practical impact by providing a free home clean service to those in the community that rely on the vital service offered by Corby Foodbank.

The caring business woman, who candidly admits that she has been recovering from alcoholism for almost two years and also struggles with her own mental health, will work closely with Corby Foodbank on the initiative. It will identify and refer an individual each month who would benefit most from the service, helping to create a safer, healthier and more comfortable living environment for those who need it most.

“The values of Northants Squad are very much aligned to Corby Foodbank,” comments Becca. “They are trying to make a difference in people’s lives and so are we. It’s all about helping people that are at a low point in their life that need that hand up, and I think that by working together, we can do just that.

“I understand how easy it is for your house to slip when you’re having a bit of a mental health episode. People think that people choose to live like that and they don’t.

“A lot of the work we do are with people that have either been homeless or that have had drug addiction that are in recovery, or people that are still in active addiction.

“There is such a stigma around addiction but I really believe that a clean space and a clean environment means a clean mind.”

Becca says that she feels she has been given a second chance in life and that this has given her the desire to help others, with the impact of a clean home evident to see: “We’ve gone to visit customers we’ve helped six months down the line and the change in the way they keep their home is amazing. It really can help somebody take that step forward.

“Our motto is that we don’t look down on anybody unless we’re helping them up. And that’s what we do by going into these properties.”

Commenting on the collaboration, Corby Foodbank’s manager Martin Langford said: “At Corby Foodbank we recognise the powerful link between a clean home and improved mental wellbeing, particularly for those using our services.

“That’s why we are delighted to be teaming up with Becca. Keeping on top of household cleaning can become overwhelming during difficult periods. By helping to remove that burden, we hope that those selected to benefit will be given a positive boost. Small acts of support such as this really can have a big impact.”

Northants Squad started as a cleaning company but due to demand, expanded into offering property maintenance services. Becca is supported by business partner, Michael Ivers, who joined the company as a director in 2025, managing the maintenance side of the business.
