Pupils celebrated in Corby Foodbank poster design competition

Three talented primary school pupils from Corby have been recognised for their creativity and compassion after taking part in a poster design competition organised by Corby Foodbank.

The competition invited Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils from primary schools across the town to create eye-catching posters based on the theme of kindness, community and helping others, encouraging young people to reflect on the importance of supporting those in need.

The overall winner was Year 4 pupil Emilia Ovcearenco from Priors Hall School, whose colourful and eye-catching design impressed the judges.

Joint second place was awarded to Year 4 student Jazzlyn Ahimah from Oakley Vale Primary School and Year 5 pupil Theo Flouri from Corby Primary Academy, with both entries praised for their creativity.

All three winners were presented with Waterstones gift vouchers in recognition of their achievements.

Of winning first prize, Emilia said: “I feel really proud to have won.”

Martin Langford, manager of Corby Foodbank said: “ We were delighted by the fantastic response from local schools and incredibly impressed by the standard of entries received. The competition gave children the opportunity to think about what kindness, community and helping others really mean, and their artwork showed genuine empathy and understanding.

“All three winners were chosen by users of Corby Foodbank and its team of volunteers. Emilia’s entry was a clear winner which stood out amongst them all.

“Congratulations to all of our winners and thank you to every pupil who took part. We’ll be putting all of the designs up at Corby Foodbank to help brighten up the welcome area and be viewed by all that use our services.”
